COOLANT MIXER INSTALLATION CASE STUDY
Pipeline solution implements FST coolant control center to reduce fluid usage and labor costs.
Introduction: Our client is the global manufacturer of steel reinforced pipeline solutions used in the oil and gas industry that combines the durability of steel with the installation, performance and cost benefits of spoolable pipe products.
Challenge: The customer was having major issues with maintaining concentrations at machines, resulting in excessive labor spent on fluid blending and usage of concentrate by allowing adjustments to premix.
Solution: Fluid Service Technologies (FST) proposed a solution that included installing an FST Coolant Control Center on-site, training off-hours staff, and providing more control over adjustments. The FST Coolant Control Center
included a coolant mixer with 1% to 10% adjustments, a 3/4” polypropylene
single ball valve, a 3/4” poly 200 mesh tee filter, a 3/4” brass pressure regulator w/gauge, a 14 GPM flow restrictor, a 3/4” polypropylene check valve, PVC fittings, a strainer, a fill hose with flow valve, and a cabinet with a lock. FST provided labor and installation services.
Result: Since the installation of the FST Coolant Control Center, the customer
has seen over a 10% reduction in daily usage, reduced touch time by 50%, and increased flow rate for fluid blending. By installing a lockable system, it can only be maintained by either FST and/or the customer’s leadership team. This provides more control over the fluid blending process and reduces excessive usage of concentrate, resulting in cost savings for the customer.
THE WIN: Since the installation of the FST Coolant Control Center, the customer has seen over a 10% reduction in daily usage, reduced touch time by 50%, and increased flow rate for fluid blending.
